Online Bible Study - Our New Life in Christ
Who's in Charge Here?
Isn't it wonderful not to have to be afraid of God's punishment? He has forgiven everything we have ever done wrong, all those things in our lives that make us ashamed. But the change in our lives is even greater than that! God has made it possible for us to live in a way that pleases Him. That New Life is ours because of our faith and is described very well in Romans 6:1-11. Read those verses and answer the following questions: What is St. Paul talking about in verse 6 when he says, ".our old being has been put to death with Christ"? What is our "old being"? What is the "power of sin" he talks about in verse 7? Because we have been set free from the power of sin, we can now live "in fellowship with God through Christ Jesus." How do we show that fellowship in our daily lives? The Good News of God's love goes even further than that! As we try our best to live as God would have us to live, He gives us the power of His Spirit to help us. Read Romans 8:1-6. How does our human nature tell us to live? How is the life under God's Spirit different? In what ways do we experience the life and peace that come from being controlled by the Spirit of God?
