2. GOD CREATED US MALE AND FEMALE

Have you ever fallen in love with a very special man or woman? Almost everyone can remember how that love felt. The world seemed a happier place, problems seemed smaller, and the future seemed safe and secure. You and your special someone would live "happily ever after," just like in all those romantic stories! You would get married, build a home together, have children, and your love would grow stronger as the years passed by.

It was certainly no accident that you and that special person felt that way. It seems that men and women have been attracted to one another since the world began. And that special love between a man and a woman is a beautiful part of God's plan for us as His people. He designed that love as the final act of His creation, a gift to us that would make all the rest of creation fit together and prosper.

Let's take a look at how and why God gave us this marvelous gift. After God had created all the plants and animals in the world, He saw the need for someone to take care of all those things. In His wisdom He created a man and a woman. Read Genesis 1:26 and 27. From those verses we learn about God's design for His new creation. At the beginning of verses 26 and 27, we learn that God meant for us to be a special part of His creation.

What makes us special?  

God also chose a special job for us in His creation, and gave us a very important responsibility.
