Love Makes The World Go Round
8. WHAT GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER.
Almost every Christian wedding ceremony includes those words, "What God has joined together, let no one break apart." God meant for a marriage to last a lifetime and that no one would ever want to break such a joyous relationship. But we live in a sinful world, and each and every one of us sins, so God's plan is sometimes impossible for us. There are times when a Christian marriage must be broken, when two people who love one another deeply must separate. This sad fact is even brought to us in God's Word, where we find the reason for which a Christian marriage might be broken. Read Matthew 19:8-9. In this passage, Jesus gives adultery, or unfaithfulness, as a just cause for divorce. Likewise, the Bible forbids those who divorce a spouse to remarry. To do so is to commit adultery (Mark 10:11-12). THE CHRISTIAN AND HOMOSEXUALITY God meant for each of us to love everyone around us. We are to show concern, compassion and kindness to anyone who needs our help. But the sexual dimension of love God restricted to the love between a man and a woman. As we have seen, that's why He instituted marriage. A relationship between two men, or between two women, which includes the sexual dimension of love is not part of God's plan for our lives. Read Romans 1:18-27. In this passage, St. Paul describes homosexuality as a "shameful passion," including "unnatural acts," and says that those who are involved in such actions bring punishment upon themselves. We again hope that this lesson has helped you grow in your understanding of God's will for your life, and has helped you to more fully understand our new life in Christ.
