Online Bible Study - Our New Life in Christ

Let's Get This Place Cleaned Up!

WE CARE BECAUSE WE LOVE AND CARE FOR THOSE AROUND US!

God showed His great love for us by giving us His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior and Lord. Because we have been set free from the power of sin, because we know that we will live forever with our God in His heavenly Kingdom, we want very much to return God's love. Jesus shows us how to do that in Mark 12:28-33. Jesus says that for those who know God's love there are two commandments that are more important than any others.

The first of these is (verses 29 and 30)

The second response we can make to God's love is (verse 31)

As we learned in lesson four, there are many ways we can show our love for our neighbor. We can show kindness, offer forgiveness, respect our neighbor's good name, protect and defend him, and treat his property as if it were our own. In many ways, we can reflect God's love by the way we act toward those around us.

Many times, we show that love for our neighbor by using the material gifts that God has given us. A good example of this is given in Matthew 25: 31-40. As the King is talking to the righteous people gathered at his right hand, he praises them for the way they have acted toward others.

What did they do that made the King so happy? (verses 35 and 36)

When they fed people, clothed them, gave them something to drink, helped when they were sick, they made use of the things God created. They wisely managed the things of God's creation so that they could offer love and assistance to their neighbor.

In the same way, we can use the gifts that God has given us to show love for those around us. As we care for the land, it produces food that we can share with others. If we keep the ocean clean, don't destroy the coral reefs, don't throw our garbage into the sea, it will produce fish that can feed all human beings. The forests can be used to house people, to cook their food and provide tools for them.if we manage them well and don't destroy them. In so many ways, we can use the gifts that God has given to reflect His love and help others to feel that love in their lives.
