Online Bible Study - The Promise Is to You

WHAT GOD SAYS IN HIS HOLY WORD
The passages on the next two pages come from God's Word. Reading and thinking about them can offer a greater understanding of God's plan of salvation for you! The words and numbers after each reading tells where these statements can be found in the Bible. As you gain comfort and strength from them, share them with a friend.

No sin is too big for God to forgive.

  • John the Baptizer pointed to Jesus and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"
  • "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; I will wait for him.'" Lamentations 3:22-24
  • "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." Psalm 103:11-12
Jesus came to save sinners.
  • "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Luke 19:11
  • "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28
  • "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification." Romans 4:25
The hidden work of the Spirit against sin.
  • "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10
  • "He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of all he created." James 1:18
  • Jesus said, "You are already clean because to the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." John 15:3-4
  • "The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." John 3:8
God helps us in the hardships of life.
  • "Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs of Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:17-18
  • "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God" Acts 14:22
  • Paul wrote, "We also rejoice in our suffering, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us." Romans 5:3-5
  • "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
  • St. Peter wrote, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
God brings blessings out of hardships.
  • Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds" (John 12:23).
  • "For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God." 1 Peter 2:19
  • In his many afflictions Job said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. Job 1:21-22
  • "Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God." 1 Peter 4:1-2
The end of suffering in the new heaven and the new earth.
  • "Be content with what you, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" Hebrews 13:5
  • "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:3-4
  • "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
God's love in Jesus is constant and unchanging.
  • "I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them." Hosea 11:4
  • "Give thanks to the Lord for he is good. His love endures forever." Psalm 136:1
  • O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins." Psalm 130:7-8
