Online Bible Study - The Promise Is to You

THE QUESTION: Will the laws and belief of Christianity change?

WE BELIEVE: That the things we believe, like God, remains the same.

A STORY: It was the middle of the night when the family's two-story house caught fire. The family was making its way out of the burning building house when the smallest boy became terrified. Without thinking, he tore himself away from his mother, and ran back upstairs to pick up a precious toy that he had forgotten. By the time the item had been discovered, the fire blocked his exit. He had no where to turn, until he spotted a window. To the gasps of the onlookers, he suddenly appeared at the window with smoke pouring out all around him. His father quickly moved into place beneath the window and said, "Jump, son, jump! I will catch you." The boy cried, "But daddy, I can't see you. There's too much smoke." "I know, his father called, "But I can see you."

ANSWER THIS: Write down some of the times in your life when you did not have faith and trust in God:

GOD SPEAKS: We live in a world where things always seem to be changing. It is frightening to think that the things we believe as being true today, might be changed tomorrow. Like that little boy, most of humanity is trapped by the smoke of sin and the devil. They feel completely lost. They don't know what to do. These folks need to hear their heavenly Father Who's love is always the same and always there for the world. He is ready to catch us in those moments when we fail and fall.

As you think about the story above, what do you think the little boy did? Did he jump into the arms of his father? I think he must have, to stay in the fire would have been suicidal. What did the father do? Did he run away? You and I both know the father would stay right where he was. Did the father drop the boy when he jumped? Impossible! The faithful father would catch his son or die in the attempt. The father, his position, and his love would always stay the same.

Similarly, you can be absolutely sure that the Lord will catch you, when you throw yourself into His hands. God does not change. His love and things He asks us to believe, do not change. Along with His love, ere are some other things about God will never change. You can be sure He will keep His promises to:

These promises were given thousands of years ago. Many millions of Christians, have trusted those promises and found them to be unchanging. God will not change. He is there to catch you. REMEMBER: The boy in our story didn't have much time. We don't know how much time we have either. Trust your unchanging God.

THIS PART OF OUR LESSON ASKS: Although we change, we can be sure that God does not. What does that mean for your faith?
