Online Bible Study - The Promise Is to You
A SUMMARY QUESTION: How can I be saved? WE BELIEVE: A person can only be saved through faith in Jesus as Savior. A STORY: Many years ago the Prince of Wales visited the capital city of India. A great barrier had been set up to keep back all the people who wanted to catch a glimpse of royalty. When the prince arrived, he shook hands with some of the important people who were presented to him. Then, looking to the crowds beyond, he said, "Take down those barriers!" They were quickly removed, and all the people, regardless of who they were, were able to approach him. Years later, when the prince came back, 10,000 people waited under a banner which carried these words: "Welcome to The Prince of the Outcasts." ANSWER THIS: Why would people be so impressed by the action of the future king? What had he done that was so special? Write your answer here: GOD SPEAKS: If people are impressed by a prince who has someone pull down some wooden barriers, how much more impressed should they be that the Son of God pulled down the barriers that separated us from our heavenly Father all by Himself! The prince's action cost nothing. But when our Savior pulled down the barriers of sin, death and devil, it cost His life. Knowing that, in faith, we are sorry for our sin and wish to thank Him. We could, of course, put up a banner which says, "Welcome to the Lord Who has saved us wretched sinners!", but the Bible is very clear what the Savior would like from us more than anything else:
