Memories of Mom"My "mom memories" are many. Most of my memories are just small things that she has done for her children. My mother worked 7 days a week overtime to make sure her children did not do without. Sometimes she would do without herself for the sake of us. Mom was always there to listen to our problems (and still is) without judgement. She is more than a mother. She is a sister and a best friend to me. My mother has often said, and I believe it to be true, that she would give up her life for that of her children's. I am very blessed to have her in my life and have a lifetime of wonderful "mom memories"." Lora, Ohio
"I don't know that I have one favorite "mom memory" persay. I have a ton of wonderful memories though. I'm 25 years old and throughout my entire life, my mom has been the one constant in my life. She has sacrificed more than any one person should have to to take care of me and my siblings. She is the strongest person I know and has been through more hard times in her life than good, thus far. And through it all, she has managed to stay afloat and still keep on going without any complaints. She is definitely my inspiration in life and who I aspire to be one day when I become a mother. "One day I was just feeling very discouraged. We were having a bad time financially. I guess you could say I had myself a good old pity-party. My son, then five, said to me, " Moma we're not broke. "I played soccer in high school. Mom made every one of my games, all four years. I remember one game specifically. It was cold, windy and rainy. We were playing a team much better than us at their home field, which was about an hour away. Mom was the only spectator from either school on the sidelines. She didn't always know what was going on with the game, but she was ALWAYS there and always cheering us on." Ruth Ann, Texas
"One of my favorite Mom memories, is when I met my biological mom. I had just arrived to her house, and I was 18 years old. In fear, and anxiety, and suddenly homesick, I called my adoptive mother who raised me all my life. When she picked up the phone, she sensed in my voice the fear, she could hear the tears in my voice. She told me everything would be ok, and that she loved me, and always would." "My favorite "mom memory" is my first Mother's Day celebration with my step-sons, Nathan and Anthony. They pulled out all the stops. Not only did I receive gifts of music boxes and jewelry, they got all dressed up and took me out to eat. Anthony was 12 and Nathan was 14. They put on freshly ironed shirts and neckties and asked me to accompany them to dinner. They took me to a Captain D's, we had a wonderful time! It started a tradition of sorts. Though the boys have grown up and moved away, Anthony still takes me out to dinner on Mother's Day, even if it's over the telephone." Dian, Tennessee
"My mom was so wise and intelligent. One day when I was about 8 years old, I was upset with her about something, but knew that I should not 'talk back' to her. So I was out in the laundry room just 'telling her off!' to the washing machine. Well, she heard EVERY word I said, because she was in the kitchen, which shared a thin wall with the laundry room out in our garage. She smiled at me when I entered the kitchen, after letting her have it! She said, "It's good to know how you really feel. Is there anything else I should know?" That taught me a lesson, that she really did care about what I thought and she was willing to listen more than I had imagined. AND, that moms are usually smarter than you give them credit for." |
